Orthogonal Chiropractic Q & A

by John Pinto, D.C.

What is Atlas Orthogonal chiropractic?

Unlike traditional chiropractic adjustments, Atlas Orthogonal (AO) chiropractic adjustments involve manipulating only the bone that sits on the top of the spine. This area is known as the “atlas,” and because it’s located so close to the brain stem, even a few degrees of adjustment can produce significant results.

Only a small percentage of chiropractic doctors have completed the special training required to perform the AO chiropractic technique. Dr. Pinto is a board-certified Atlas Orthogonist and has years of experience treating patients with a wide range of conditions.

What are the benefits of orthogonal chiropractic adjustments?

Because the atlas is the top bone of the spinal column, anything that causes this area to rotate out of position can create a misalignment of the body or affect nerve flow. Correcting the position of the atlas bone can provide everything from pain relief to the reduction of fibromyalgia symptoms.

Am I a good candidate for orthogonal chiropractic treatments?

If you’re suffering from a chronic health condition that hasn’t responded to medication or other treatments, AO chiropractic adjustments could resolve your health issues. You might benefit from AO chiropractic if you suffer from any of the following:

  • Arthritis
  • Chronic fatigue
  • ADHD
  • Chronic pain
  • High stress
  • Injuries
  • Herniated disc
  • Carpal tunnel
  • Migraines
  • Allergies
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Sinus problems
  • Back pain
  • Nerve irritation

How are orthogonal chiropractic adjustments performed?

AO chiropractic adjustments are performed using the AO Instrument. Dr. Pinto applies this instrument to the atlas to relieve any nerve pressure and improve the position of the atlas bone.

Dr. Pinto may need to perform a series of adjustments to correct the subluxation -- or misalignment of your vertebrae -- that’s triggering your pain or condition.

What can I expect with an AO chiropractic adjustment?

Your treatment begins with an examination and consultation with Dr. Pinto. He orders X-rays and performs a series of tests to determine exactly where the subluxation has occurred.

Dr. Pinto measures the misalignment, then analyzes the X-rays to determine where to perform the adjustment. After he completes the adjustment using the AO instrument, he does another scan to see how much the area has improved. You may notice both immediate and progressive improvements in your symptoms.

If you’re suffering from a chronic health condition, orthogonal chiropractic adjustments could help resolve your symptoms. Call Advanced Wellness of Westfield to schedule an appointment or book your consultation online.
